K Sims

prop/costume director

"You know that little muscle between your shoulder blades that, when you're really REALLY stressed out all of a sudden becomes just a sharp pain and feels like someone is ripping it out with their teeth? Yeah, well I am never directing another play again."

K is versatile and talented on and off stage. On stage, she's been Doctor Seward in Dracula and a few different parts in Heart Strings. Off stage, she directed last winter's Wizard of Oz and was the mastermind behind all the play's props and costumes. She is a talented seamstress and has contributed a number of props and costumes to many SHS productions.

Her role as Doctor Seward in SHS's production of Dracula was the first large role K took on. "I enjoyed it immensely," says K, "but then, it also taught me that my strengths did not really lie in acting. But still I pursued." While K is a good actress, she more enjoys designing costumes, props and sets.

K biggest accomplishment to date was her directoral debut for the Dark and Peculiar Tale of the Wizard of OZ. She designed and made all the sets, props and costumes as well. It was a huge task and she handled it wonderfully. Her skills as a seamstress as well as her creative ideas have been called on for SHS production many times and will be again, guaranteed.
