On Saturday, February 5, the Outlaws followed an invitation to participate in the 4 A Central Oregon JVDistrictChampionships at Juniper Aquatic and Fitness Center. All Outlaw swimmers were allowed to participate in two individual and two relay events, scores however were eliminated for those Outlaw swimmers and relays that are expected to finish in finals during the upcoming 3A District Championships in Woodburn. 

Hilary Hedemark, the 200yds. Medley Relay and the 200 yds. FreestyleRelay swam exhibition only, some events could not be entered due to injury or absence and could not contribute to the final score. Mountain View won the Boys' competition (317) ahead of Redmond (169), Sisters (166) and Bend (28) and on the girls' side Bend dominated with 418 points ahead of Mountain View (240), Redmond (217) and Sisters (168). 

The first event with the girls' 200 yds. MedleyRelay set the tone for the rest of the competition. ChelseaDurdan-Shaw led the Outlaws with a fast 50 yds backstroke leg, followed by DanaHughie in the breaststroke, HilaryHedemark in  the butterfly and ChelseaMeudt as anchor. All four girls recorded best splits this season and finished
first with a combined time of 2:14.28. The Outlaw girls also won the 200 yds. FreestyleRelay with lead swimmer ChelseaMeudt (30.9), JamieCundiff (31.7), ChelseaDurdan-Shaw (28.7) and anchor HilaryHedemark (27.9) for a combined best time of 1:59.52. 
 
 

HilaryHedemark swam the fastest times in the 200 yds. Individual Medley (2:25.78) and the 100 yds. backstroke (1:05.93) exhibition only. Official firstplaces for the Outlaws included the  50 yds. freestyle by JamieCundiff  (31.06) and NickPatterson (26.27), ChelseaDurdan-Shaw's 100 yds. freestyle (1:05.80) and 100 yds. backstroke (1:15.24) and DanaHughie's 100 yds. breaststroke (1:30.15) 

Other scoring swimmers for the Outlaws included a third place for the Medley Relay team with Eli Pyke (backstroke 37.1), Luke Seile (breaststroke 43.2), Nick Patterson (butterfly 31.4) and KevinCarlsmith (freestyle 27.2), a second place for the boys' FreestyleRelay (Patterson 25.9, Comfort 29.7, Carlsmith 27.7 and Pyke 27.8). Heidi Whipps finished second in the 50 yds. freestyle and sixth in the 100 yds. freestyle, ChelseaMeudt fourth in the 50 yds. freestyle and third in the 100 yds. breaststroke, Dana Hughie fourth in the 100 yds. freestyle, EliPyke third and TravisComfort sixth in the 50 yds. freestyle, Kevin Carlsmith third, EliPyke fourth and MattEhrenstrom sixth in the 100 yds. freestyle and in the 100 yds. backstroke Kevin Carlsmith finished third, TravisComfort fourth and Adam Guggenheim fifth. 

District Championships are held Friday and Saturday,  February 11 and 12 at the Woodburn Pool. The facility is located  off Front Street on Oak and First and competition starts at 4:00 p.m. on both days with warm-ups. Prelims and finals are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on both days. Sisters High School is in charge of admissions and selling heat sheets.
