OUTLAWS SHINE AT DISTRICTS

Hilary  Hedemark defended her title as District Champion in the 200 yds Individual Medley at the Woodburn Aquatic Center  February 11,  winning with a time of 2:22.19 ahead of Jamie Burlison of Cascade (2:36.45).
Hedemark  was silver medallist in the 100 yds. Breaststroke (1:17.11) behind Elise Roberts from Cascade with a time of 1:15.96. Both finishes qualify her for the State Championships at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham February 18 and 19. 

Other Championship finalists included Chelsea Durdan-Shaw in the 100 yds. Backstroke as well as the girls and boys "A"  relays.
 

Seeded in third position after prelims with a season best of 2:13.88, the team of ChelseaDurdan-Shaw in the backstroke (33.2), Dana
Hughie in the breaststroke (39.8), Hilary Hedemark in the butterfly (29.5) and Chelsea Meudt in the freestyle (29.9) swam to another  record time (2:12.77). 

However,  Philomath A also bettered their prelim time, pushing the Outlaws out of medals into fourth place. Seeded second after preliminaries,  behind Sweet Home (1:52.75) and ahead of Stayton (1:57.09) and Philomath (1:58.55),  the Outlaw girls swam to another best time and new Sisters High School  Record (1:55.45) in the 200 yds. Freestyle relay. Chelsea  Meudt lead the team with a 29.49 sec leg, followed by Jamie  Cundiff (29.87), Chelsea  Durdan-Shaw (29.06) and Hilary  Hedemark (27.03). In spite of yet another time drop, the team was edged out of medal contention by Stayton and Philomath and finished fourth.
 

The boys' Medley Relay team also set a new High School record, replacing the 2:23.74  of Bulloch, Perrine, Pyke and Clark  During Championship finals, Eli Pyke lead  in the backstroke (35.6), Seth Perrine followed with the  breaststroke (37.2), Nick  Patterson with the butterfly(30.0) and Kevin Carlsmith in the freestyle (27.3)

The final time of 2:10.13 put the Outlaws in fifth place. Another High School record fell when Patterson,  Comfort,  Pyke  and  Carlsmith teamed up in the 200 yds. Freestyle relay, swimming to a 1:51.72. Clark, Pyke, Perrine and Bulloch held the old record of 2:01.37. 

Other  consolation  finalists  included Jamie  Cundiff,  Chelsea  Meudt and Kevin  Carlsmith (new High School record 2:24.61) in the 200 yds freestyle, Chelsea  Durdan-Shaw  and Nick  Patterson (new High School record 25.36) in the 50 yds freestyle, Dana  Hughie, Eli  Pyke and Kevin  Carlsmith  in the 100 yds freestyle, Jamie  Cundiff  and  Travis  Comfort (new High School record 1:32.22) in the 100 yds backstroke and Dana Hughie in the 100 yds. breaststroke.

State Championships are held Friday and Saturday,  February 18 and 19 at the Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. Preliminaries start at 7:00 a.m. on Friday and finals at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
