OUTLAWS WIN EVENTS AT PHILOMATH

After an avalanche, fallen rock and trees on Santiam Pass prevented the Sisters High School swimmers from participating in a meet in Stayton, January 13,  the Outlaws traveled to Philomath for a five-way competition the following week. Teams from Cascade, Jefferson, Central, Sisters and Philomath competed in this Invitational. Even though our boys' and girls' numbers were reduced by illness and absences, the swimmers walked away with several top finishes.

Scoring for the Outlaws were Hilary Hedemark with  first place finishes in the 100 yds butterfly and the 100 yds backstroke, Chelsea Durdan-Shaw with a second place in the 200 yds individual medley and a third in the 100 yds backstroke.

Dana Hughie finished in fifth position in the 100 yds breaststroke, ahead of Jamie Cundiff, who also finished sixth in the 200 yds freestyle. Heidi Whipps added points with a fifth place finish in the 100 yds freestyle.

The girls' relays were second in both the 200 yds medley relay and the 200 yds freestyle relay.

The big scorers on the boys' side were EliPyke with a fourth place in the 200 I.M.,  AdamGuggenheim with a fourth place in the 100 yds backstroke, SethPerrine with a fifth place in the 100 yds breaststroke and NickPatterson with a sixth place in the 50 yds freestyle.

Guggenheim, Perrine, Patterson and Comfort combined forces to finish fourth in the 200 yds medley relay and Pyke, Comfort, Seile and Patterson swam to an impressive third place finish in the 200 yds freestyle relay. The boys' 400 yds freestyle relay came in second overall.
