In their first championship format meet of the season, the Outlaws swimmers competed January 18 in the Clemens Invitational at the  Philomath High School pool against eleven top teams from around the state. "Inspite of crowded spectator facilities and the exclusion of swimmers on deck, the effects of the flu virus still evident among some of the swimmers,  the Outlaws swam away with a new Sisters High School record, challenged another one and achieved a number of personal bests," coach Hedemark commented.

Justin Hedemark broke the 100 yard freestyle record, established by Steve Nitcher  in 1997, with an explosive sprint of 56.36 and the freestyle relay team of Lee Pyke, Pat Burke , Brandon Johnson and Justin Hedemark came within two tenths of a second to shatter the old record of 1:51.19 set by NickPatterson , Travis Comfort , Eli Pyke and Kevin Carlsmith in 1999. The relay finished 7th overall.

The girls' medley relay was opened by Andie Lesowske and a 39.9 backstroke leg, followed by TessaDurdan-Shaw in the breast, Katlyn Diener in the butterfly and Lauren  Anderson in the freestyle. In the same event the team of  Casey Pyke , Wil Hanson, Justin Hedemark and Lee Pyke swam to another 7th place finish with their time of  2:06.9. In event  7 of the competition, Tessa Durdan-Shaw led the girls in the 50 yard freestyle sprint with a 31.1 and a 12th place among 41 competitors. Lauren Anderson won heat 3 with a time of 36.2, followed by Kalyn Brink's 36.5  in heat 4. Evan Livsey won  heat 2 with a 31.3 and Brandon Johnson and Pat Burke battled it out in the next heat to finish with personal bests of 28.9 and 28.8 respectively.

Event 11, girls 100 yard freestyle, saw the closest competition of the morning. Andie  Lesowske led the way with a final time of  1:21.6 followed by Jacquelien Mansker's KatlynDiener's 1:26.4 and Lauren Anderson'sLee Pyke swam into the top 15 with his time of 1:04.6. Rounding out the team effort were Brandon Johnson (1:06), Pat Burke (1:09) and Evan Livsey (1:13).

The Outlaws did not enter any competitors in the 500 yard freestyle or the 100 yard butterfly but showed solid performances in the freestyle relays as well as the last two events of the day, the 100 yard backstroke and breaststroke. Tessa Durdan-Shaw led off the free relay with a personal best of 30.6, followed by Jacquelien Mansker, Mareta Lindley and Kalyn Brink. Tessa Durdan-Shaw , Wil Hanson and Justin Hedemark finished the meet with best times in the 100 yard breaststroke.
