Swimmers notch first place finishes in Redmond

Several first places for the Sisters Outlaws against the Redmond Panthers marked the second meet  of the season.  A slightly reduced team of  six boys and eight girls garnered top places in the 100 meter Individual Medley, 50 meter breaststroke the 50 m backstroke against twenty-eight JV competitors and Varsity exhibition swimmers. Varsity swimmers competed for time only, not for points or ranking. The team scores put the Panthers ahead of the Outlaws.

The first event, the 200 m Medley Relay, was contested by Andie Lesowske with a strong backstroke leg, Jacquelien Mansker in the breaststroke, Tessa Durdan-Shaw in the butterfly and anchor LaurenAnderson in the freestyle. The Outlaws finished second between the Redmond "A" and "B" teams. On the boys' side, Casey Pyke started off with a fast 37.6 second backstroke, followed by MorganMansker in the breast, Justin Hedemark in the butterfly and Lee Pyke with an outstanding freestyle segment of 31.1 seconds.  Their combined time of 2:26.02 was also good enough for second place.

Katlyn Diener and Mareta Lindley finished third and fifth respectively in the 200 meter freestyle. The Outlaw boys did not have a swimmer place in this event.

Anna Evered and Tessa Durdan-Shaw competed in the next race,  the 100 meter Individual Medley. Evered finished third and exhibition swimmer Durdan-Shaw's time of 1:31.45  put her into second place overall. In an outstanding race of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, JustinHedemark outtouched Redmond senior swimmer Henry Heath by .04 seconds and finished first with a time of 1:13.36.

Newcomers Kaylin Brink and Lauren Anderson added valuable points for the Outlaws with their 50 meter freestyle swims, finishing second  and fourth. Brandon Johnson and Evan Livsey touched the wall third and fourth with Johnson achieving a personal best of 32.11 seconds. Tessa Durdan-Shaw was the only Outlaw competing in the 50 meter butterfly. She finished fourth.

Jacquelien Mansker won the 100 m freestyle event ahead of Katlyn Diener with a time of 1:36.05. Redmond's Nicole Holly swam the fastest, however it was contested exhibition only.  The longest event of the day, the 400 meter freestyle had no entries on the girls' side. Lee Pyke swam a well paced race for the boys, finishing with a final time of 6:07.48, close enough to challenge the 500 yard school record, set by Justin Hedemark last year. Swimming 200 meters freestyle, both girls and boys relay teams finished in second place. Tessa Durdan-Shaw led with a powerful dive, followed by Kaylin Brink , Katlyn Diener and anchor Lauren Anderson . Their time put them behind Redmond "A" but well ahead of the Panther's "B" team. Lee Pyke , Brandon Johnson , Evan Livsey and Justin Hedemark barley missed another first place for the Outlaws, finishing second in a time of 2:06.45.

The third winner for the Outlaws was veteran backstroker Andie Lesowske . Lesowske finished first in a time of 43.80, well ahead of Allie James of Redmond. Mareta Lindley came in third. On the boys' 50 meter backstroke, the Outlaws came close to another first place. Justin Hedemark led the race until the last 10 meters, when Tory Nottingham closed in and outtouched him at the wall.

The last individual event of the day showed a strong presence of breaststrokers among the Outlaws. Jacquelien and Morgan Mansker  swam outstanding races  and finished second overall. The fastest times were exhibition swims by Tessa Durdan Shaw and Anna Evered .
