Sisters High School Swim Team
1999/2000

A TASTE OF DISTRICT COMPETITION

The Outlaws traveled to Stayton for an eight way meet with Marist, Valley Catholic, Sweet Home, Cascade, Sherwood, Jefferson and Stayton on January 27 for one of their last meets before District Championships. Even though Sisters did not fare very well in the team scores due to absences and the lack of two competitors in each discipline, most swimmers swam either the same as a week ago, or slightly better.
The majority of events featured fourteen to sixteen competitors who gave an accurate preview of what can be expected at the upcoming districts and state competitions.

Hilary Hedemark won the 200 m Individual Medley (2:39.58)  and the 100 m breaststroke ahead of Stayton's Shari Jackson (2:55.75) and Cascade's Elise Roberts respectively.

The boys' 200 m Medley Relay with Eli Pyke in the backstroke (43.0), Seth Perrine in the breaststroke (43.9), Nick Patterson in the butterfly (34.1) and Kevin Carlsmith as anchor in the freestyle (30.4) finished sixth.

The girls' 200 m Medley Relay team with lead Chelsea Meudt in the backstroke (45.1), followed by Dana Hughie in the breaststroke (48.7), Hilary Hedemark in the butterfly (32.8) and Heidi Whipps in the freestyle (35.30) finished 7th overall.

The boys finished even better in the 200 m freestyle finishing fifth. Nick Patterson led the Outlaws with a 31.4 sec. leg, followed by Travis Comfort (32.2), Eli Pyke (31.6) and Kevin Carlsmith (31.4). The girls' 200 m freestyle relay moved up a spot as well, finishing sixth behind Valley Catholic, Sweet Home, Cascade, Stayton and Sherwood. Hilary Hedemark swam a 30.5 sec section, followed by Chelsea Meudt (33.0), Heidi Whipps (34.6) and Jamie Cundiff (34.8).

Other top ten individual finishers included Kevin Carlsmith -  200 m freestyle, Luke Seile and Travis Comfort - 50 m freestyle, Chelsea Meudt - 100 m freestyle, Eli Pyke - 100 m freestyle, Jamie Cundiff - 100 m backstroke and Seth Perrine 100 m breaststroke.
