![]() The Outlaws swim team traveled to Sweet Home December 1, 2000 The Outlaws turned in a respectable performance against swimmers from Marist, Valley Catholic, Junction City and host Sweet Home. The format for this season opener was relays in all eight events. Starting with the 200 yard Medley Relay, JamieCundiff sent the Outlaws on a fast course on her backstroke leg, followed by LenseVervliet's powerful breaststroke, CristinaVallejo's butterfly and anchor Chelsea Meudt's dependable freestyle sprint. The relay was disqualified for an illegal turn, but the time of 2:29.29 was respectable for the first meet of the season. On the boys' side, Andy Neary, Scott Schreiner, Kevin
Carlsmith and Andrew
Hyde put together a flawless relay that
earned
them a fourth place overall ranking. The 400-yard freestyle relay with legs of 50, 100, 200 and 50 yards was swum by Leah Berrey, Jacquelien Mansker, Jamie Cundiff, Elizabeth Mount and Andy Neary, Scott Schreiner, Kevin Carlsmith and Andrew Hyde. Mount's sprint as anchor was remarkable, resulting in an early-season 31.4 time. She is expected to challenge the freestyle sprinters in the district. The next event, the 4x100 Individual Medley, featured Jamie Cundiff, Tessa Durdan-Shaw, Lense Vervliet and Chelsea Meudt. Impressive times were achieved by LenseVervliet and Chelsea Meudt. However, the team was disqualified for an illegal kick in the breaststroke leg. The boys did not compete in this event. Sisters finished third in the girls' 200-yard freestyle relay behind two teams from Marist. the attention of the competition with a time of 28.8.

Only the girls competed in the 200-yard butterfly relay and finished third overall. Both the 200-yard backstroke relays were disqualified for illegal turns. The second to last event was the 200-yard breaststroke with Anna Evered, Jacquelien Mansker, Lexie Comfort and Elizabeth Mount, who swam to a third place finish behind Sweet Home and Marist. The team was handed a disqualification slip for an illegal turn in that race, too. The boys did not compete in the breaststroke.
