UCLA
HISTORY
Team
UCLA owns a record 11 NCAA championships. UCLA teams, coached by John Wooden, won ten titles in twelve seasons from 1964 to 1975, seven of which were consecutive. UCLA went undefeated a record of four times in 1964, 1967, 1972, and 1973. They have set tons records, such as winning seven consecutive national titles, seventeen Final Four appearances (ten of which were consecutive), an eight-eight game winning streak, fifty-four consecutive winning seasons above a .500 record. UCLA has also drafted some very talented athletes like Baron Davis and Reggie Miller; king of the three-point line. From 1920 to 2000, they won 1,445 times and lost 621 times. That is a record of .699 which falls in fifth place in the entire nation. UCLA’s 77 game win spree set the largest winning streak in the U.S. but was later ended by Notre Dame. In 1973, UCLA was in sixth place because of how many rebounds they had per game.
The Bruins colors are “true” blue, as they call it, and gold. At the beginning of the season, they were undefeated and the number one seed but they finally had their first loss to number eight seed Texas 63-61. UCLA is currently ranked fifth and their record is 14-1. They have a very common offense like the pick-and-roll or the give-n-go.  The postmen or your team’s tall men normally start the offenses from the block position but some plays like high post rub and zipper have the postmen start at the elbow or corner of the free throw line. Some more of their plays are: base cross, triangle post and UCLA. In fact we run the play “UCLA” on our eighth grade basketball team and it is very successful.
