Types Of Cichlids

 
 

Convict Cichlid

Convict Cichlids are aggressive Cichlids that get from 5" to 6". They come from Southern Central America. There PH level is from 6.8 to 7.2, also there temperature is from 78 to 82 degrees. They will eat pellets, flakes, frozen foods like shrimp, beef heart, blood worms, and feeder fish but they can spread disease. Also if you have a male and female Convict they will breed. You can tell that the females are pregnant because they will have Reddish Orange stomach. They will be very aggressive will they have there fry.

 
 
 

Jaguar Cichlids

Jaguar Cichlids are aggressive but will not kill other Cichlids if they were raised together. There water should be from 78 to 82 degrees. you should keep there PH level at 6.8 to 7.2. They get around 18" big and will eat fish that are 3/4 of there size. they will eat almost any thing and also like frozen foods and feeder fish. The females have less dotes and orange on there stomach, the males have a lot of dotes on there sides.

 
 
 
 

Fire Mouth Cichlids

Fire Mouths are semi aggressive Cichlids. There PH level is 6.8 to 7.2 and there temperature is 78 to 82 degrees. The get 8" and will eat most fish food including frozen foods and also eat small fish. They come from South America. They will flare there gills out when they fight other fish. You will know if they have fry if they cleaned a rock of and are protecting it.

 
 
 

Jack Dempsey Cichlids

Jack Dempsey are very aggressive Cichlids. There PH is 6.8 to 7.2 and if they are kept at the right PH they will turn a Blackish Green when they mature, But when they are still babies they are a light tan and have less green or blue. They come from the amazon and there temperature is 78 to 82 degrees. They get around 10" and eat pellets, frozen foods, feeder fish, and some live plants. The females do not turn a dark color as they get bigger.

 
 
 
 

Oscars

There are many kinds of Oscars like Red, Tigers, Albinos, Lemon, pink and many more. They come from South America and the Amazon. There PH should be from 6.8 to 7.2 and the temperature of the water should be around 78 to 82 degrees. They eat any thing that will fit in there mouths. It is very hard to tell if they have fry or if they are male or female.

 
 
 
 

African Cichlids

There are many kind of African Cichlids and they are aggressive. They get from 4" to 8". they come from Central and South Africa. there PH is from 7.8 To 8.2 and there water should be from 78 to 84 degrees. They eat all most all fish foods and feeder fish. Large Mouth Bass

Blue Gill

Bass and Blue Gill are part of the Cichlid family. They come from The United States and there temperature can be from 60 to 75 degrees. There PH is Neutral and can be from 6.0 to 8.0. They will eat most  things and other fish.
