HISTORY |

Volleyball was invented in 1895 by a man named William G.
Morgan; he called the sport “mintonette”. Volleyball was invented 4 years
after basketball. In the 1900 a new ball was made for the new sport. It was
designed for a combination of basketball, baseball, tennis
and handball. The net came from tennis and was only 6’6” high. Around 1916
people start to spike and set, the people decided to make official rules.
The rules were final in 1923. In 1925 the first 2-man beach volleyball game
was played. Professional Beach Volleyball started in California in 1965. In
1996 Volleyball became an Olympic sport. |

The Volleyball uniform is different then most
uniforms, it has shorts and tank tops like every other sport but with a
few changes. In beach volleyball girls wear spandex shorts and sport
bras, boys wear baggy shorts and no shirts! In school sports that would
be inappropriate so the uniforms are a little different. The girls wear
tight, short spandex and tank tops and kneepads. The boys wear shorts,
shirts, and kneepads. |

In the game of volleyball there are 6 players
3 in the front row and three in the back. Volleyball is not a very
popular sport so there aren’t any real famous people! |
