Why I love St. Bernard’s so much is because they are so cute and they have very soft fur. They have short-hair variety smooth coat, the top coat is dense and smooth, close lying and coarse with a rich under coat, and the their bottom (buttocks) fur is a light brown, and the tail is covered with lots of hair. The long-hair variety has more of a rough coat, the top is plainer and the undercoat is a medium length with a rich undercoat, and the buttocks area has more wavy hair. The face has short hair around the ears too, and bushy hair on the tail. The colors of the St. Bernard’s are brown, red, black, and white. White markings on the chest, feet, tips, of tail, head and neck are essential for show dogs. |

Both the regular St. Bernard and the long-coat version require lots of space and lots of exercise. These indoor and outdoor dogs need their coat brushing at least three times a week and the famous warm, soulful eyes need to be regularly checked and cleaned. They also have very adorable eyes, because they are big and brown; some people refer to the eyes as to a dark nut brown. Their head are also big and some people call them massive and imposing. St. Bernards also have very good sense of smell because they use to go out and find people that got lost.
