Mining and smithing is a very efficient way to make money in the game. To mine the rocks (rocky out crops) you will need a pick ax. Take the pick ax to a rocky out crop and select prospect rock, when you do this it will tell what kind of ore is in the rock, next click then select mine rock then it will either give you the type of ore you prospected or it will tell you that u need to be a higher level to mine this rock. Unless you are trying to mine a soft rock, then the success raight of getting a ore our of the rock lowers.

To smith ore to make bars you will need to take the right ore (shown in graph above) to a furnace which are located in falador and near lumbridge. Once you have the right ore and are at a furnace you click on the ore then click it on the furnace. It will say "You smelt the ore together" and then it will give u a bar of what combination you used. Unless you are smelting iron then your success raight is 50%, so if it says "the ore was to impure, you fail to smelt it" and then you wont get the iron bar.

Once you have the bars you will need to take the bars to a anvil with a hammer. The anvils are located all over the map. When you get to the anvil with the hammer and bars you click on your bar then click on the anvil it will say "what do you wish to make?" then you click on what group of items you want to make then click on the thing you want to make and if it says "you need to be a certain level to make this" then you cant make that so will need to start over and make a different item.
