Walter Payton was born in Columbia, Mississippi.  He grew up being a boy scout. He was a member of the school band and choir. Walter Payton started to play football when he was a junior in high school at Jefferson high school. He achieved great success playing running back. But Walter Payton’s career nearly ended because his school integrated with an all white high school during his senior year. Walter ended his high school career in Columbia high school. He led them to an unexpected 8-2 season
