Halter

Get your feet set, head up, bend your neck, and stand for the pose. This is what you do while you're at a halter show. The horses have to be proud and as many trainers have remarked, arrogant. This and other requirements make you be able to go into a halter show. These horses are often of the best breeds (Bask) and are known worldwide. There are shows all over the world showing the beauty and majestic feel of these royal horses. Welcome to the world of halter!

To get into a real halter show you must have the best or one of the best breed horses on the block. The horse often has to be 100% Arabian with 2-5 parents that were born of such horses like Bask, Shadow and Sarraolai. Another requirement is that they are trained enough to do the job accurately. If you can't hold the horse still and the horse runs away with you, (and this has happened before) you will likely not be allowed or not wanted at the next show. This last requirement might seem easy since most old horses can easily stand still if you tell them since they have had years of training, but this is not so. Once you have finished with the requirements you need to have a chance to win. The only way you win is if you have a flexible horse that is young and won't get tired out by all of this new excitement. Often amateurs or professionals will take young horses that are between the ages of 9months to 6years as the oldest which in truth is still really young since horses can live to be above 45 (my neighbors horse is 40 and is still taking his rider for cantering rides) Now you know, it takes much to even sign up to be in a halter show.

If you ever want to be in or see a halter show you might want to consider the Scootsdale Arabian Horse Show. This show is known worldwide with people and horse that come from all the different sides of the earth. The show is in Arizona and runs in the spring and the fall. Known as the best Arabian horse show in the world, it makes quite an impact on competition each year. There are many small completions in California and Oregon . There is a Halter Show in Somis California that is for Purebred Arabians and shows most of the northwest halter horses. There is a smaller show called North West Life that you can go in if your horse is 75% Arabian. In Aachen , Germany there is another Halter Show that is quite big. This show shows many of the European Halter Horses. As you can see, Halter Shows take place all over the world.

The most famous type of horse and most wanted is a stallion that is either a direct son of a Bask or a mare that is young and was born of a Bask. Some of the most famous Arabian horses include a horse called the Prince of Peace, Diadhem, Tsullivan, Afire Bey 5, Noble Express, Padron, Khemosabi and Huckleberry Bey. Just the sperm of these horses can cost $35,000 without illuminating the chance that the baby dies. If you are planning to use a horse for halter as he is young and then possibly give him a chance to be ridden, you would want a gelding. Geldings are usually not as proud as stallions, but much easier to manage since they don't feel the need to be the alpha. You can't ride a stallion while it often has the best halter show performance. Some famous geldings that have made it to the halter show category are Oosa Temonic, Beyond Blazing, Color Me Beautiful, and Rohara Dion. The mares that perform in halter shows are often the most beautiful since mares have a tendency to grow longer manes but shorter chest hair. This helps trainers cut the hair shorter since you can only cut a horse other than a gelding once because by the time you do it the second time, the hair has already grown back. Some famous mares are Savanah SMF, Isahna, and Shaboura. As you can see, each type of horse has its advantage.

The world of horses has many different sides that help make it an actual world. There are the types of horses, their ages, and their breeding lines. Then there is the place that each is allowed to show their halter skills. As you know, halter show horses can show their beauty and their uniqueness all over the world which makes it possible to see them were ever you are. So come on down and see these marvelous creatures for yourself!
