Night Elf Strategies

The best benefit of the Night Elves is the ability of the Archers, Huntresses and Priestess of the Moon to shadowmeld, or disappear when not moving at night.  This allows entire armies to disappear and slip past enemy defenses undetected.  Also, the night elf units are very fast and mobile, allowing them to perform hit and run attacks with greater ease.
When choosing heroes, keep in mind that the Priestess of the Moon can shadowmeld without using a cloak of shadows.  The Demon hunter also makes a great first hero because of his skill at killing enemy heroes.  The Demon hunter's mana burn ability can be very effective at killing heroes without allowing them a chance to use their spells in defense.
Whenever you build a hero, immediately go out creep hunting.  But for the Night Elves, you always should have at least two units for every creep level a creep has to ensure victory.  Also remember that in a pinch wisps can detonate, taking away the mana that the priests are using to heal those rifleman killing all your ancient protectors.
Ancients are a great asset to the Night Elf forces in that you do not have to build an entire new base when you collapse a gold mine.  In fact, I think that you can even put Ancients in Goblin Zeppelins for fast transport, even though I have never tried this.  Ancients can also eat trees to restore health, instead of needing to be repaired, using recouces like the buildings of other races.  Actually, ancient protectors, the "towers" of the night elves can be used as a unit instead of a building, and by using them in this way, you can create armies over the food limit, using ancient protectors, technically buildings that don't count against the food limit, to attack enemies.  the drawback of this is that they are very slow, but a benefit of them is that because they are buildings, they cannot be targeted with spells like death coil and polymorph.
