This story takes place in middle earth which is a long time ago.  During middle earth there was a place called the Shire where most of the hobbits lived. The Shire was broken up into 4 parts. They were the north, south, east, and west farthing. Farming was popular in the Shire. In the Shire there was a town called Hobbition. In Hobbition there was Hobbition Hill which is usually just called the hill. On the hill is where Bilbo Baggins lives. There are different types of hobbits found in the Shire. They are the Stoors, Harfoots, and Fallohides. Even though most hobbits live in the Shire still some live in Buckland.
