all about S.O.A.R
(sisters organization for activities and recreation)

Interview With Tom Coffield -
Head man and creator of SOAR
Why did you start SOAR? (started in 1995) "I started SOAR because a group in Sisters said that there weren't enough activities for kids."

Are there any changes you want to make in maybe the next 5 years? "Yes, to get involved in more adult programs, do some programs with C.O.C.C. (Central Oregon Community College) and I would like to get involved in programs to try and stop teen drug and alcohol use and to build community fields for baseball and football. I would also like to build a skate park."

What are you going to do when you move to the high school? "I would like to start a teen night club for high school students and have community league sports teams. We will get a Taekwondo studio, so we don't have to pay rent for a studio. And we will start art and cpr classes."

"Also, I would like it if people came in and started signing up for  fall sports and other classes.

Teen Center
bar at teen centerpool and foosball table at teen center
The Teen Center is a place where teenagers can hang out. There is a pool table, fooseball table, a stereo and a big screen TV. For drinks and food there is a bar that serves cold drinks and candy. There is no charge to hang out at the Teen Center. The people who run the Teen Center are cool, so it's a fun place to be.

Sports
All sports are covered at SOAR. During the school year SOAR is in charge of Sisters Middle School sports program. During the school year they have basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, track and cross country. In the summer camps are given for other sports such as golf, tennis, rock climbing and others.
