Once you get on base you have to know how to run bases. You are supposed to lead off, as soon as the pitcher lets go of the ball. When you are leading off you can steal the next base. If the ball goes past the catcher it is easier. If you steal and the catcher throws the ball to wherever you are stealing to and it's close, you should slide. Sliding is when you bend one leg  under the other and throw your self feet first to the ground.
