Find an open, unobstructed slope for learning to
snowboard powder. Early in the morning after a fresh snowfall is the best
time.
Point your nose straight down the slope and get going with some speed. Don't worry so much about your edges in the powder yet. Unlike ice, powder
allows you to snowboard straight without much difficulty.
Keep your weight slightly toward the tail.
Bounce up gently and float high on the powder.
This also helps keep your speed up.
Retain your speed and begin carving small
turns. This should take little effort in good powder.
Bounce up at the beginning of each turn to free
your board from the powder and keep you riding high.
Establish a rhythm of rising up on the powder
and steering. Rise and steer, rise and steer, until you are carving
smoothly back and forth.

Rails A rail jam took place on Friday September 15, 2006 in Mentor Ohio. Local snowboarders from the Great Lakes, Ohio, PA, and New York showed up to compete. The setup featured rails and a box provided by the local snowboard resorts. The kids were stoked to get out and ride some rails months before the season will begin. |

ramps The Benders are durable plastic coated wire characters that have magnets in their hands and feet. You can bend, sculpt and pose The Benders into nearly any position imaginable. Most Benders come in their own tin—it's where they sleep when they are not hard at work or play. Some Benders—like Mop Tops and Bender Boarders—don't come in tins but have their own distinctive
packaging.
