Now when you think about Cross Country you may think about Cross Country Skiing, or across the country, but here I am talking about running. I'm not sure why they call it Cross Country I think its because you run on trails a lot or maybe because you run long distances, who knows? All I know is it's a good way to talk to friends (if they do cross country) and a good way to stay in shape. |

At Sisters Middle School Cross Country Practice we do a lot of things. We start out with a warm up jog for about a half a mile. Then we do some warm up stretches starting with toes, moving to heels, then we'll do a sitting stretch like the hurdler. Then probably skipping then the butterfly, then something called "karaoke" which is the grape wine with higher knees. Then as some people call it supermodel then the arishnicoff (I think I spelled it wrong) then we do arm stretches and last we do starting sprints. After all that we do a run from 1-5 miles usually a 2 mile run. When we get back we do some closing stretches and sprints. Practice usually lasts for 1 and half hours. |

Now after reading the paragraph above you should know that you should be able to run anywhere from 1 to 5 miles. If your a beginner I suggest that you run every day for about a mile, that way you will be in shape for when you start. But if you did Cross Country at the other school if you transferring or you did it the year before then you really don't need to run a mile everyday. Then over the summer don't just sit around and not train, during the summer you have to train, even if its just running a mile everyday. |

Now you might not be the athletic type but you should still try cross country. It will get you in shape, and keep you in shape if you do it and continue with it. You also might have a friend doing it, and then while you run with them you can talk to them about stuff. Cross Country can also get you out of certain classes, then you don't have to go through boring classes (no offense teachers). You also increase in how far you can run long distance and in sprints.

| If you've already forgotten this page was about Cross Country. I talked about what you should be able to do, what we do at practice, what you should do to get in shape or stay in shape, and why you should do Cross County. I hope you learned something new or are willing to try cross country. | ||||||
