Mr. Miller

Mr. Miller is more than just a teacher- he is a real person with hobbies, interests, and a family. He enjoys all things outdoors, being with his family, and combining the two. He grew up in Ohio, and sometimes teaches or plays a variety of sports. Not a whole lot more can be said by me; unlike in-school information, it is unlikely that you will run into his family, and so there is no pressing need for home life information, but if you get any information at all, it should me in Mr. Miller's words. Still, it can be nice to know- anyway, here are some non-academic questions about Mr. Miller’s hobbies and interests.

Below is a summary of the answers Mr. Miller gave to some questions I asked him.

Summary

Mr. Miller didn’t always want to be a teacher- when he was young, he wanted to be an archeologist or a geologist. That’s because he grew up in a small Ohio farming town. After the fields were plowed, he would sometimes go out into them and find fossils, rocks, and minerals, along with arrowheads left behind by the Mohican Indians. He also found one in his garden at home, and another poked him in the foot while he was digging in the sands of Lake Erie- those two are his favorite. Mr. Miller has both played and coached soccer, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee, as well as coaching football for two years. At his old middle school, he ran a skiing and snowboarding club, and helped many kids learn those skills. As I mentioned on the other page, Mr. Miller enjoys almost all aspects of the outdoors, but he takes pleasure in skiing, fishing, and camping most of all. Taking priority over even those activities, however, is spending time with his family. He has two daughters, and loves to do things with them. All of that just emphasizes the fact that he is a good person, though- the things that really set him apart are his unique experiences. For example, Mr. Miller hates roast beef sandwiches. It is not because he is a vegetarian (which he isn’t), or that he thinks they taste funny; no, it is because he has choked nearly to death on roast beef sandwiches twice so far! That is definitely a good reason. Also, when he was younger, he got a major head injury from falling down a “hill”- and don’t ask me why hill is in quotes, that is just the way Mr. Miller wrote his answer. It was probably either bigger or smaller than a hill, but I don’t know which. A funny aspect of the questions I asked him: the question was “Anything else you would like me to put up on the web page?” to which he responded “Comments from students about how I am clearly, the most incredible, fascinating, and stimulating 8th  grade Language Arts teacher in Sisters Middle School.” And he is clearly the most incredible, fascinating, and stimulating 8th grade Language Arts teacher in Sisters Middle School, among other things.
