  • Francistown it is still in the high 80's mainly 90's. It is very humid.
  • In only four years Francistown’s population grew by 305 percent.
  • They are still mining for gold in Francistown.

  • The Francistown abattoir has in captivity 400 cattle and 150 small stock sheep and goats.

 

 

 

 

  • The population of Botswana is 1,579,436.

  • The total area of Botswana is 600,370 km.

  • Botswana is a little smaller than Texas, U.S.

  • English is official, but most people talk in Setswana.

  • The Kalahari Desert covers eighty four percent of Botswana and parts of Namibia, South Africa and Angola.

    Francistown was named after Daniel Francis, a prospector and trader who was the central of the gold rush. Although over the years Gaborone has grown tremendously, the town is also known as "the old lady of Botswana."
