OverviewStudents will evaluate how ethics and morals cause intrapersonal and interpersonal , "survival of the fittest" conflicts that affect the integrity of self while examining, developing, and testing their own life-philosophy through literature, self-discovery, and heritage research to transcend common media, cultural, and social ethical and moral pitfalls as a democratic citizen. Students will write in in a persuasive-research essay. Course Goals Students will understand and use the following literary criticisms to achieve diverse perspectives of the core understandings. Students will complete the speaking requirements for the CIM, presenting either an informative or impromptu speech. Students will complete the writing requirements for the CIM, writing either a expository or imaginative essay, and a persuasive research essay. Students will exhibit writing proficiency to meet freshmen college standards. Students will evaluate their own personal beliefs, morals, values, and ethics in comparison with the four years of language arts instruction in order to create their own personal philosophy.
