Community Partnerships

 

Healthy Waters


            Healthy Waters is a non-profit organization that is a “research and teaching institute, working to provide Oregon students with the knowledge of their local land and water”. Headed out of Bend, it is an organization that is “dedicated to developing generations of knowledgeable and motivated young citizens”. They began in November 2004 and their ultimate objective is to reach every student in Oregon.
       

Wolftree    

Wolftree is a non-profit science education organization that is dedicated to “serving people, communities, and the earth through science education, ecosystem restoration, and ecological research in the Pacific Northwest”. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Wolftree began in 1994 and has served over 80,000 students since. Jay Hopp is the Education Director and Project Manager is Steve Edwards.

 

 

 

US Forest Service

The U.S. Forest Service was established in 1905, as an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Forest Service is in charge of managing public lands in our national forests and grasslands.

 

Oregon Department Of Forestry

The Oregon Department of Forestry was established in 1911, under the direction of the state forester who is appointed by the State Board of Forestry. The Oregon Department of Forestry acts on all matters pertaining to forestry, protecting forestlands and conserving forest resources.

Fluid Images

Fluid Images Film and Video Productions is a full-service production company that creates exciting visual experiences that attract, involve, entertain, and motivate.

Fish And Wildlife

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's mission is: "working with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.” They are the only agency in the U.S. Government with that key mission.

 

S.O.A.R.

Founded in 1995, Soar is a non-profit organization that provides recreation, enrichment, and sports programs for the youth of Sisters. Many groups in the community, such as Sisters School District, Sisters Kiwanis Club, and the Parent Teacher Association, came together to create SOAR for the city of Sisters and the outlying areas of 14,000 residents. Over 3,000 kids participate in SOAR each year.

 

Ten Friends

Ten friends is a non-profit organization that was founded in Sisters, Oregon by our very own IEE teacher, Rand Runco, along with Sisters Elementary School teacher, Mark LaMont. This is an organization where “a bunch of friends” get together to “improve lives with simple hands-on projects”. An area of work that Ten Friends specializes in is Nepal. In Nepal, the group delivers stretchers to isolated areas of the country, installs water filters in the villages, and assists numerous orphanages, providing school scholarships in hope of a bettered education.
