Cooking with Comfort: Cooking with Comfort is a hands-on course to introduce basic nutrition, menu planning, kitchen safety and sanitation, basic cooking terms and basic cooking skills. Lab activities will be planned as a "cook and eat" experience. Students will have the opportunity to earn their Deschutes County Food Handler's Card

Culinary Arts 1: To take this course students would have to finish Cooking with Comfort. This course takes off where Cooking with Comfort ends, exploring food and cooking techniques, safety and sanitation as well as nutrition. Students explore professional cooking, practice cooking techniques, and learn knife skills. Students will get hands-on experience helping with some preparation of meals for the Sisters School Meal programs and the Outlaw Cafe catering Program. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the food service marketing and management at Sisters High School. Students will have the opportunity to earn their Deschutes County Food Handlers Card.College credits can be earned in this course through articulation with COCC.

Culinary Arts 2: To take this course students would have to finish Cooking with Comfort. This course is an extension of Culinary Arts 1 with an in-depth look at the Hospitality Food Service Industry. Students will have the opportunity to prepare for a successful career in professional Food Service. The class experience may include hands in everything from the back of the house to the front of the house in the Outlaw Cafe meal service and catering program, extensive bakery experience or extensive cultural foods and run a restaurant or bakery. Students will have the opportunity to earn their Deschutes County Food Handlers Card. College credit may be earned in this course through articulation will COCC.
